Fear, Desire, Control
A collaboration with electronic producer Bosquemar, Fire examines the uneasy relationship between caution, desire and the fear of taking risks. Its lyrics alternate between personal hesitation and the frustration of another person's unwillingness to commit, allowing the questions of control and vulnerability to remain deliberately ambiguous. Hypnotic electronic rhythms lend the composition a restless, almost trance-like quality.
LYRICS
You said That you wanted to play But the lights went down And you got away You got away
We don’t play with fire We don’t play with fire We don’t play with
You were taught well A healthy dose of fear Keeping you safe Or so it would appear So it would appear So it would appear So it would appear how does it feel how does it feel to be steering the wheel the whole time So it would appear
We don’t play with fire We don’t play with fire We don’t play with how does it feel how does it feel to be steering the wheel the whole time
How does it feel How does it feel How does it feel To be steering the wheel The whole time The whole time
You don’t play with fire We don’t play with fire We don’t play with
